Preparation for Use:
- Unfold the Pad: Take a new cat EXTRA pad and unfold it completely.
- Smooth Out: Gently smooth the litter tray pads by hand to remove any creases from the folds.
- Adjust Size if Needed: Our cat litter pads are elasticated, so you can stretch them lengthwise or widthwise to ensure a perfect fit for the tray.
- Positioning: Place the absorbent pads in their designated spot with the absorbent side facing upwards.
- Secure Edges: Smooth the disposable pads so the edges face upwards, sitting snugly against the tray sides.
- Ensure Liquid Containment: Make sure the pads are properly smoothed out to prevent any liquid from escaping over the edges.
How and When to Change the Pad
Through simple observation, you will typically feel when it is time to change the pad. Ideally, we recommend replacing the pad once it reaches capacity, but before any liquid can spill during the swap.
To check if a change is needed, lift a corner to see if it folds easily. If liquid is visible at the fold when the material is squeezed, the pad is full and should be replaced.
By changing the pad promptly and avoiding spills, you can skip washing the tray, as the plastic remains protected from urine.
If any urine does reach the tray during a change, we suggest washing it with soap or a mild disinfectant.
Our kitty pads are 100% waterproof. If you happen to find liquid beneath the pad, it is likely due to one of the following:
- The pad may not have been fully flattened, allowing liquid to flow over the edges. Please ensure the pad is spread evenly during installation.
- The pad may have been left too long, leading to an overflow.
- The waterproof base layer may have been accidentally damaged or punctured.
Please note
During the pad’s lifespan, we suggest rotating the tray 180 degrees halfway through its use. As cats often prefer a specific corner of the litter tray, liquid can sometimes collect on one side. Rotating the tray helps the liquid to distribute more evenly across the surface.
Lifespan and absorbency can vary based on environmental factors; performance is often influenced by local humidity and air temperature. The specific composition of the animal’s urine, such as salt content and bacteria, can also affect how the absorbent material performs.
If you notice an odour before the pads have reached full capacity, please feel free to get in touch with the seller. You might also consider using a special deodorizer for cat pads. This helps break down urine compounds, prevents the breakdown of absorbent materials, and neutralises odours while extending the lifespan of the absorbent pads.
